Workshop cum seminar on Jhumar Back

Jhumur is a performing folk art form including song and dance. It is spread through the western part of west Bengal, coastal Orissa and some parts of Jharkhand. This folk form of singing and dancing is losing its original impetus due to the influence of Hindi film songs. The aim of this workshop, which was conducted on 4th-5th September, 2010 by Mayurbhanj Convener P.K. Mishra, was to spread awareness among the local population about their original heritage.
