The Virtual Experiential Museum at the Man Mandir, Varanasi Back

INTACH’s involvement with the Virtual Experiential Museum at the Man Mandir, Varanasi has been a rewarding experiance. Uttar Pradesh’s first Virtual Experiential Museum was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Indian Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi,  on 19th February 2019, to bring the experience of the city of Varanasi under one roof, exploring the rich cultural heritage of this ancient city. A bilingual Coffee table book – Ras Ras Banaras, along with booklets for distribution was designed and created. The content for the same was sourced and researched, and the dramatic scripts were developed and translated to capture the essence of Banaras.

During the Prime Minister’s recent visit to the museum, he spent over an hour touring and interfacing with the exhibits. From the various 3D films to the touch screen and interactive exhibits, from the large scale projection of the Gangavartan to the historic and factual panels, every section of the museum was carefully studied, observed and enjoyed during the tour taken by the Prime Minister. This museum tour by the Prime Minister that takes the visitors from the historical Kashi to the present day Varanasi was highly appreciated by the Prime minister himself in his tweet and other messages on social media and print media.

Both Architectural Heritage and Intangible Cultural Heritage Divisions  of INTACH were involved actively in the making of this museum.
