Jharkhand Tourism Seminar Back

A Jharkhand Tourism Seminar was organized by INTACH on promoting tourism in Jharkhand. This event was held at Pragati Maidan on 21st November 2011, and was sponsored by Department of Tourism, Govt. of Jharkhand. The principal aim behind organizing this seminar was to create awareness about the rich cultural heritage of the state, both tangible and intangible, and the explore possibilities of tourism there. The purpose of the seminar was to discuss a comprehensive tourism plan that could focus on opportunities, participation and sustainability in Jharkhand and cover areas of tribal culture, traditional crafts, natural precincts, folklore and popular tales, and rural tourism.

The seminar was inaugurated by Mrs. Bimla Pradhan, Tourism Minister, Jharkhand. Experts from different fields gave presentations on different topics during the seminar. Some of them included Mr. Justin Imam, tribal art expert, on ‘Tourism Potential in North Jharkhand’; Dr. Kamta Prasad, eminent economist and development expert, on ‘Sustainable development of tourism in Jharkhand’; Mr. Arun Srivastava, Joint General Manager- Tourism, IRCTC, on ‘The work of IRCTC in Tourism Development’ and many more.
