Documentary film on the heritage of Lalitpur Back
INTACH Lalitpur chapter made a documentary on the city of Lalitpur. India has a large number of historical forts, temples, palaces and sculptures. The documentary begins by telling the importance of preserving sites of national importance. It shows that Lalitpur city is located in Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh.Jhansi district lies about 90 km to the north. It is known for the vast number of historical monuments, temples and other structures. Lalitpur’s history is one filled with the stories of valiant warriors.
It has multiple temples, Jain temples,a church, a gurdwara and a dargah. This testifies the religious unity and peace of Lalitpur. A lot of the surrounding places from Lalitpur like Devgarh, Talbehat, Banpur are also of historical significance. These places also have historical structures like temples, sculptures, forts, and other remnants which require preservations. In Devgarh, there are a lot of important sculptures and Jain temples. In Banpur, there is a Ganesh murthi with 18 hands.
Further, the documentary shows the art and culture of Lalitpur. It is known for its handicrafts, bamboo basket and copper sculptures. Similarly, various types of music and dance are practised in Lalitpur. The existence of so many historical sites, forts and temple makes this place special and it requires preservation
